Happy Gobble Gobble…
Nov 22nd
We wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving to all our loyal readers (and those just passing by) from the whole AtA family. We are about to hit the 600 reader mark – meaning we gained another 100 readers in the last month… Nice! Our traffic and email volume has also increased AGAIN – thanks for the love.
Samsung just sent us a demo unit of the SCH-i760 and V-moda sent us their Vibe Duo fancy shmancy iPhone headphones. So we will have some new reviews and give-aways coming up (The headphones not the phone).
You guys rock big time, thanks for the continued support and well wishes. I am off to enjoy my new daughter for a bit before I have to start fixing everyone in the family’s laptops and desktops that they schlep from halfway around the world… Feeling me? Everyone else has the day off. The Admin still has to work! Don’t be shy send in your questions and we will keep on answering them. Even the SUPER strange ones that I have to share with you soon. Stay tuned Admins…
So which shirt should I go with – Black or white? Yeah, your right black is much more formal.

Dell One = Sexy Time
Nov 21st

This is definitely a sweet looking PC.
This is the way a home desktop PC should look.
It’s a little pricey, but it is in line, price wise, as the iMacs and the other Windows based all-in- ones that have hit the market.
Edit by the AdmiN: Hey I know, I know we used the word sexy and did not have any gratuitous naked chicks. But hey I’m out of the office today. We saw her all purty like last month in the flesh and maybe we will give her a twirl soon. Here is a link to the XPS One PcMag review.
CES NYC Press Preview Unveiled!
Nov 14th
“It’s A Geeky Christmas! What to get the geek in your life for the holidays.”
We searched high and low (mostly near the fancy finger foods and at the bar ) then we hit the exhibits. Somehow we wound up with an Exhibitor pass instead of the standard press pass… I started to wait in line to get it all fixed up but then the security guard told me i can go right into the show floor – which was not going to be open for another half hour. Sweet! No line at the bar… No line for food. And no lines at the booths! Super Sweet.

We found a few really cool stocking stuffers and some great low and high end gifts. Some brand new technology and some re-vamped old ones. Check out the highlights:
- A Gold and Fake Snake Skin Motorola Razr V8

- The Dragon is a premium class-1 Bluetooth headset with 100-meter range and dual-mic noise suppression, designed for all-day usage and top performance. It can be used as a two way radio as well. The octopus looking usb hub was cool as well from CallPod.
- AtA’s first hands on with the OLPC (One Laptop Per Child). I was told we can buy them individually but no one could tell me how. If I was Fidel Castro they would have told me! AMD showed us this little guy along with some other very cool stuff.
- Parrot’s Hands Free Car Kit from the Awesome hands of Philips
- A helmet cam
- A Blinged Out Hello Kitty Laptop? Kind of hurts a little eh? AMD had it on display next to some of their fabulous new itty bitty chips that bring ATI graphics to phones and other small platforms.
We also came across some amazing new takes on Wireless USB from WiQuest, RCA is helping old people that don’t know that their old analog TV’s will stop working in 2012 by offering a converter, Alpines Mobile Media Solution – these things keep getting smaller and smaller! I played with some Solid State Drives from SanDisk, Audio Vox has some awesome (Cheap) two way radios and Turbo Charge had really cheap portable chargers for almost every possible mobile device.
Review units will be coming in shortly and we are hard at work compiling our Geeky List for our readers (and their significant others). If you have something you want to submit or just share with us please drop a email to tips at askTheAdmin.com and we will check everything out!
So what do you want for the holidays? Let us know – or if you don’t know what you want send that close someone over to AtA in December for a list of “AtA approved Geeky Goodness” Patent Pending :)
Dell Precision M6300 – The unboxing of the mobile workstation
Oct 7th
After some hubbub and waiting on Fed-Ex I finally got my Dell Precision M6300 to review. The FedEx guy handed me the box and immediately I felt how seriously massive this machine was.
Dellâ„¢ Home Notebooks
I quickly brought it inside and started the unboxing ritual as you can see from the pictures below. This monster of a laptop is sporting a 17 inch 1920×1200 screen and an NVIDIA Quadro FX1600M OpenGL graphics card. This bad boy is serious! Wow that screen looks beautiful!
After using the Dell X1, with its 12 inch screen, for so long this thing feels massive on my lap. The screen feels like I am working on a normal flat panel monitor. I went to go plug this guy in and noticed the huge power brick. Again the M6300 is not playing around.

This lappie rocks a 2.8 Ghz, 64-bit Core 2 Duo Extreme Edition X7900 processor from Intel in combination with that beautiful screen this laptop is a powerhouse.
Our demo unit has a 80 gig 7200RPM mechanical hard drive but you can opt for the 32GB solid-state drive instead. We got a DVD-RW with ultra speed but you can opt for a Blu-ray writable optical drive. The built-in card reader supports SD, MMC and MS Pro’s. The finger print reader is handy for those who need extra security.
Dellâ„¢ Home Notebooks

We will be giving it a solid going over with our hands-on use over the next week and report back with our final verdict. But I am beginning to think I will have a hard time going back to my little X1! I am going to load up Photoshop CS3, blog as usual, watch a few flicks, download and do all my normal day to day activities from this beauty for the week. So if you are thinking of buying this laptop and have questions – now is the time to ask! Check out the updating Flickr set here.
