On demand Antivirus scanning from Windows 8 builtin AVon December 15, 2012 at 11:52 am
WIndows 8 comes with a built in antivirus solution. Which is basically Windows Defender. But there is no way to scan folders or files “on-demand”.
But AtA is always looking out and here is a small workaround that will get you on the right track.
To open the GUI hit up the following location via My Computer:
C:\Program Files\Windows Defender
We also saw that you can add a batch file to your sendto folder to allow you to do context menu scanning as seen here:
- Hit start –> Run
- Download this file from the HowToGeek, unzip its contents and throw them in the folder that opened.
- That’s it! You now have a right click option called Scan. Give it a shot.
