Log into Gmail and Google Apps at the same time.
Jan 29th
Check out this post fromm the Google Blog:
Google is rolling out a feature I mentioned in a previous post: signing in to multiple Google accounts simultaneously from the same browser. When you go to the Google accounts page, you might see a new option: “multiple sign-in”. If you don’t see the new feature, it will probably be enabled soon.
After clicking on the “change” link, Google informs that this is an advanced feature and that it will only work for Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Sites, Google Reader, Google Voice, App Engine and Google Code. When multiple sign-in is enabled, a drop-down is displayed next to your email address at the top of the page, so you can quickly switch to a new account.“If you use multiple sign-in, the first account you sign in to will be your default account. If you visit other Google products that don’t support multiple accounts after you’ve signed in, you will automatically sign in to your default account for that product. If you sign out of any Google product while signed in to any account, you will be signed out of all your Google Accounts at once.” (Google help center)
When you enable this feature, the most significant change is that you’ll see a new drop-down next to your email address in Gmail and other supported Google products. Click on the drop-down and you can sign in to a new Google Account without signing out from the previous account.Another change is that Google’s URLs include a different number for each account: http://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/, http://mail.google.com/mail/u/1/, etc.
Google’s help center explains that Google’s services didn’t allow you to sign it to multiple accounts at the same time using the same browser because Google uses sign-in cookies that only let you sign in with one account at a time. Obviously, you can use multiple browsers, Chrome’s incognito mode, IE8′s “new session” feature, multiple profiles, but the new Google feature makes things easier. Now you can read your messages from two or more Gmail accounts by opening Gmail in multiple tabs.

We have covered awesome free games for the little one’s like baby smash but as they get older you do have to pay for games for them. My little one now has a severe addiction to her iPad and YouTube. She also has me buying apps left and right so when I find a game that entertains her for hours I need to tell you guys out there with 3-5 year olds as well. The game is called Dora’s Big Birthday Adventure if you follow that link it is $14.99. My Kayla loves Dora and this amazes her on a touch screen Touch Smart desktop and on a Touch Screen Laptop.
What is an Admin to do in this bad weather? Geeky survival guide…
Jan 29th
If you find your self camping or stuck in some bad weather I have some geeky cheap gear for you to protect yourself and your gear. I can even have you lighting your stoggies in the rain. This all came about because I have been trooping through snow and ice with this winter wonderland that is New York. I have taken to protecting my gear and myself in case of any nasty incidents. I grabbed a awesome weatherproof case for my phone from Pelican, Some water proof matches and a handy little pack axe from Coghlans.
Just a friendly reminder… BACKUP YOUR FILES!
Jan 29th
I see it time and time again – someone losing all of their personal documents, pictures or music to a bad hard drive a virus infection or even worse having a machine or drive stolen. So make sure you backup everything to the cloud or a server away from where the data is. This way if a disaster strikes you can recover. I love dropbox and I love Windows Home Servers for automatic backups.
Do you guys have backup routines? We want to hear about all your bat scripts running xxcopy scripts and all that good stuff. Hit us up in the comments guys. Let’s all benifit from the groups knowledge.

HP ProBook 4520s Review
Jan 17th
I am totally finished with Dell at home now. I replaced my Dell laptop with the new HP ProBook 4520s. It is the latest offering in the 15 1/2 -inch business notebook from Hewlett-Packard.
The ProBook 4520s features the Intel Core i7-620LM, i5-520M, i5-430M, i3-350M, or i3-330M CPU, the Intel HD integrated graphics or ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4350 512MB dedicated video card, up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, up to 500GB of hard drive space, and a DVD burner or Blu-Ray Combo. The 15.6-inch LED-backlit HD display has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels and BrightView in some models.
The HP ProBook 4520s also sports a full-sized keyboard with separate numeric keypad, an optional 2MP web camera, stereo speakers and an integrated microphone, 802.11a/b/g/n wireless, the optional HP un2450 EV-DO/HSPA Mobile Broadband Module 2.0 with GPS support, a Gigabit Ethernet port, Bluetooth, and optional 56k modem, as well as VGA and HDMI outputs, three USB ports and a combo eSATA/USB port, an ExpressCard slot, a media card reader, and optionally a fingerprint reader. The laptop starts at around 5.5 pounds with the standard 6-cell battery and runs Windows 7 or SUSE Linux. It can be ordered through HP’s website for a base price of $799.
I have my Verizon broadband wireless card and this monster of a machine and they compliment each other wonderfully. The best part of all is that this machine will last me for several years. I am already running all my virtual machines off of it and have all my tools and applications loaded up on it.
Long story short this machiene is awesome with a full size keyboard for all my admin/writing needs.
Use your Intel core i5-2.5GHz Toshiba satellite laptop for longer sessions with durable laptop batteries.
Using System Restore to Combat a Virus Attack.
Jan 13th
I helped restore a buddys virus ridden xp laptop yesterday. We could not open system restore, malwarebytes or any other security application. I burned a shortcut to system restore and burned it to a cd. I was able to launch system restore from there and succesfully restore to right before the infection. Take that fake anti-virus!
