I would love to give that a shot Nicholas, however I hope I wont have to. Everyone loves their local fire dept, just that nbody wants to necessarily see an on-duty firefighter for any reason.

Even better is system rescue (http://www.sysresccd.org/Download) using testdisk, drives that won’t mount can be read, files copied into a directory, partition table, mbr and even data can be repaired.

Sadly, I still haven’t gotten my windows machine back up. Not only that, my power supply finally buzzed its last buzz and the computer wont stay on any longer than it takes to boot to the Ubuntu desktop. I should have my new power supply and hard drive from TheTechGeek.com. Check em out from the link on the right bottom of this page…

I’ve used Ubuntu for exactly the same thing. It’s awesome for that. Were you able to get your Windows machine back up? aer you still using Ubuntu?
