Hi, if you need to document things like

Windows Servers
SQL Server Instances
Active Directory
Group Policy
and encrypted password lists

It might be worth taking a look at the FREE Version of XIA Configuration.

http://centrel-solutions.com/xiaconfiguration/

Any feedback on the software would be much appreciated.

I downloaded Spiceworks and gave it a test drive as I was testing LAN Sweeper....Spiceworks won.

The ability to have the Helpdesk and other IT Services documentation in one location was the seller for me.

As I mentioned in a comment on Change Management. We looked at a product called Service-Now.com and it is just way too big for our operation, not that the price was wrong....and Spiceworks handles most of the functions of Service-Now without all that extra overhead.

Being ITIL compliant would be great...but it is not necessary for us, so Spiceworks is going to go through its paces and see if we want to go full bore with the pro version.

Thanks guys for recommending this product.
