It started, way back when, I read a Boing-Boing post about Google Image Labeler. It warned me about how addictive it is but I mean really who would think that:
- You would want to help Google and add labels to their images.
- You could easily spend HOURS on the site.
- You have more fun mocking other players then playing.
Well they are all true! You log in and Google finds a partner for you and they show you pictures one at a time. You and your partner only see the same picture nothing else. You need to match your labels with theirs. The more obscure the word is the more points you will get. I went into this thing laughing and walked away 5 hours later very serious and very solemn. I almost made the leader board! Wait – when did that become my goal of the day? What happened to my work?
I do find myself mocking the other players as I have already typed in 7 valid labels and then started with Idiot, moron, do you sense a pattern… Now why does that entertain me? Well you see everything your partner typed at the end of the round. And you know how we like to harass people :)
So in conclusion whatever you do DON’T play this game and when you do DON’T try and beat the high scores. I have a feeling that the top cats are playing this thing 10 hours a day. I got 11 images in the 90 seconds twice – if you do better then me…
I don’t want to hear it kids! It will keep me up at night. I don’t know if this will ever be as addictive as SNOOD but it is right up there.

My god, you have no idea. I spent an hour yesterday labeling damn images. “no, last game, I just need to break 1,000 pts”. ya right. “if only this parter weren’t so stupid. just type in the word ‘girl’, pass-master. what a jerk!”
Damn it Jay – that was me you were playing!!!
Just Kidding… but I wasted another 3 hours this morning on it. Thank God I can’t play this mobile – then everyone would be in trouble.

Could this site be more addicting than Nintendo Wii? I love websites that I could enjoy visiting and keep coming back for more.
I'm hooked too! I've made it to the leader board many times, but there are too many stupid slowpokes playing this game. Now I'm starting to have the other player never typing anything and if they do it's to pass. I don't know if it's someone getting a kick out of it (pathetic much) or if it's some bot. Anyhow, it ruins the fun. The only good thing to come out of it is it gets me to stop playing for a while and actually get something done around my house.
I, too, call the other player names if they miss all of the obvious label choices, or if they want to pass. I hate passers! If they're too slow I just type that they are, but I don't really call them names for it. I do tell them they need to find a different game to play, as this one is too fast-paced.
Isn't it a shame that these people just want to play a nice fun game, and then people like me are fighting to get number 1 for the day? So we drop these slow, clueless players mid-game or tell them off. LOL
