I have used Advanced Windows Care for a year or so to speed up clinets/friends/family’s pcs. Works pretty well at cleaning up startup items, doing a basic malware sweep, and cleaning the registry.

yup, I've been using it for about 2years without issues. We are a Dell house, so it may not work as well on other brands.

One of my junior admins used this about 5 years back in a effort to clean a block of dell machines from um… crap. He wound up generating blue screens and getting some crazy errors. We wound up reimaging them anyway. Is it better nowadays?

Great post. If you suspect malware and conventional antivirus or antispyware programs don't seem to be helping, you can try Hijack This (HJT) and ComboFix. But be careful, these are advanced applications and can ruin your PC if not used properly.
