Its getting easier to make the switch, well it was in a corp environment, Microsoft and their wonderful docx/xlsx formats are tricky for Openoffice.

Openoffice can be configured to open docx, but I have a lot of readers asking me to work out how to open xlsx, this is the only stumbling block I have found.

With the advances with WINE, a good chunk of office related software runs on Linux, even Quickbooks can. If you use the online version of Quickbooks you can install IE6 on Linux also!

The only thing thats stopping Linux entering the mainstream corp desktop environment is third party apps, which again, while WINE will take a shot at running them, not all will run:(
