in the realm of windows file management?

being a huge fan of split window file management, my all time favourite would be Total Commander (a Norton Commander ‘clone’, shareware, formerly known as Windows Commander)

DropStack (VERY cool) and Command Line window to name but a few.

it can be used portable as well, just copy the installation folder to a USB stick.

I really like Explorer XP personally.
