How can I get quick Flight Status while i’m mobile?
on July 2, 2008 at 12:00 pmPosted In: Windows Mobile
So this nifty obscure use of Google really helps us out on the go. We fire up our mobile browser (whose home page is Google) and type in our Airline and flight number like so:

And Google does the hard work and gives you what you need to see! This will work from any Internet terminal and not just your mobile. For more obscure uses of Google like currency and metrics conversion check out this LifeHacker post. Do you have any other Google tricks or hacks? Put us on! Let us know in the comments!

I have nothing nearly as usefull as the comments on Lifehacker, but I’ll reveal an easter egg. Google can calculate the answer to life, the universe, and everything.
Unfortunately, the site that the data comes from ( http://www.flightstats.com ) is US only. If I search for for Qantas flight 107 (Sydney -> JFK), I get results, but if I look for Sydney to Melbourne data, I don’t get anything :)
Sorry my non American friends. I need to poke around a lil’ further in the future for ya!
I just searched Qantas flight 107 on google.com/m and got the correct australian flight! will check google when im in the office. did we try google.au?
Returned by Google per the instructions above! It didnt choke hiccup or nuttin

I am in the UK and use this on the regular.
You can also do this on your cell phone via text message. Just send a text to GOOGLE (466453) with the airline and flight number, ex. “JetBlue flight 581″
For the weather text “forecast” and a zip code..
Be carefull not tu put high confidence in the gate info since that is in constant flux in high volume airports like ATL.
most def more reliable then stationary paper – the updating site! and if ur airport changes gates reg you know better than to look at anything other than the gate info.
