I can highly recommend Process Explorer, I have replaced the standard task manager with it. You can also hit Control-Shift-Escape and click New Task... Apparently, after completing the steps as mentioned above, Explorer does not automatically re-start. You will have to press ctrl+alt+del, click "Task List", click "File" from the menu, click "New Task", then type explorer.exe in the "Run" box, and hit enter. This will re-start explorer.
