How did I not know this FireFox Shortcut key existed?

Written by Karl L. Gechlik | AskTheAdmin.com on April 8, 2008 – 1:42 pm -

Did you know that by pressing Control + any number you can move to that tab? So like below I can press Control + 1 and move to my Web Mail tab. Control + 2 to move to my Barracuda window and Control + 3 to move to my good old Ask The Admin window…

You can keep going until you reach 9… Because if you try to type 10 you will move to tab numero uno!

Do you have any other little know FireFox tips to share with us?? Are you using the Fire Fox Beta now? What do you think of it? Share your opinions and tips with us in the comments!

Move the Bookmark toolbar next to the Menu bar to save space. Right-click anywhere near the buttons and select "modify". Now move the Bookmark toolbar to the space next to the menu. Close modify screen, right-click again and de-select Bookmark toolbar. Voila.

Especially nice together with theTtiny Menu extension:

    Yes Mr. Admin :)
We knew about this, and this is most helpful when we have too many tabs opened, and going to 2 and third tab, you need to use alt+tab, and it moves one by one…
    Boring, isnt it.

Alt-Tab moves to different application windows not within The Fox. Unless there is a way to modify this. I use alt tab almost as much as control alt delete and fast task manager via control shift escape .

CTRL + F4 will close the active tab, which can be quite handy at times.
CTRL + <L/R Arrow Key> & HOME/END will move tabs left and right. Great for grouping multiple tabs from a site.
When you have a tab selected, the L/R Arrow keys and HOME/END keys will switch you to the next/previous and first/last tab, respectively.

Mozilla's Knowledge base has some additional shortcuts that are real time savers!
