Why I hate Vista a little more each day.
Written by Karl L. Gechlik | AskTheAdmin.com on March 24, 2008 – 11:25 am -Can someone tell me how and why this makes sense?

You do not have permission to view the current permission settings for Properties, but you can make permission changes… WTF?

What the hell?!
That's retarded.
Also, obligatory moronic FIRST!

That is just sheer…aaaaah! (Brain explodes).
Honestly that makes no sense to me. To many "permissions".

I would have thought that its vistas way of saying you can take ownership of the folder/file but without playing with vista that much i dont know

Haha, that's quite the jackass, that Vista, ain't he? :D
I had taken a screenshot recently of installing Nokia phone software/drivers, and it showed "installing items 254 of 251". Bet you can't beat that in terms of sheer stupidity(XP's, not mine)

PS: Its me again, submitting this to Digg, lets see how they digg up MS's stupidity.
I hope you can take the onslaught of traffic that might come ;)

What the heck…this post's URL is being rejected by Digg:
"This link does not appear to be a working link. Please check the URL and try again."
I guess I won't be able to submit this to Digg :(

Digg is hating on AskTheAdmin.com recently and even my emails to Kevin Rose have gone unanswered! Who did we piss off?

You should submit this to the daily wtf.

StumbleUpon still works though. I'm going with the "you can take ownership." I have Windows Vista and I was forced to take ownership of the whole C: drive after installation just to write to it and edit files.

I love me some Stumble Upon as well! I hope you gave AskTheAdmin a big thumbs up! :)

FilePrompt.com reviews and lists hundreds of free software, shareware, and open source programs and applications to download. Whether you are searching for free anti virus software, free music programs, or free photo editing software, FilePrompt.com has it all.

well!!! why are you even using vista. linux ubuntu does everything vista does faster and more reliably. i have no pitty for people who won't even try a better op sys. i admit for a windoze user the learning curve is a bit steep because you have to unlearn windoze. but i'm over 50 and i just started using linux last yr and i'll never buy another copy of windoze heck last month i turned down a free copy of vista home premium.

I permit you to set the permission for changing the permission of a ….! DAMN IT! Why don't you unintall Vista and drink a cup of coffee!

PROTIP: This has nothing to do with Vista. It's NTFS, so anywhere from WinNT, 2k, 2k3, XP, Vista, Longhorn Server, you can get the same error.
You are likely an administrator, and removed inheritance (or another user/process tightened up permissions).
Easy to fix.

Uh, shouldn't it be "the other 255 people"?

I also hate vista. They tried a lot in design but all are very waste in use. A very glamorous useless OS
By stephen kuiria on Apr 13, 2008 | Reply
why is this even an issue?
people will complain of lack of security, then complain when there's too much
By Klokwerk on Apr 13, 2008 | Reply
Thats how bad Vista sucks it affecting comments posted about them XD
By Sean on Apr 14, 2008 | Reply
Its less of an issue as it is an annoyance. There is no reason to block viewing of settings you can change. Its like putting a program icon on your desktop that is invisible except the drop shadow at the edges and you can still click it, delete it, move it, etc.

Faster and more reliably? EVERYTHING? Sure, tell me another one. Linux is ok but for most desktop users? Not an option. I guess if you don't play games, its ok. But if you play games, Linux won't work well for you.

It's no secret though, that Vista prompts users with stupid questions alot more often than the previous version of M$ Windoze. You'd have to admit, a prompt like this one is the cherry on the cake

M$ has admitted that UAC is there to annoy the users and convince publishers to write better code.

KEEP XP ALIVE!! Vista SUCKS, and here’s why: 1) Incompatibility with GOBS of software – or it works but not quite the same, 2) Confirmation prompt after confirmation prompt, 3) Programs magically crash under Vista and not XP, 4) Requirement to seek permission from some mysterious administrator, when - OH WAIT - I AM the administrator!!!, 5) DreamScene makes computer (albeit a darn good one) freeze, 6) Inability to install fonts in bulk, 7) Folder settings resetting on their own CONSTANTLY, 8) Graphics editing programs suddenly can’t handle large images anymore, 9) Printers cannot be found, 10) Difficulty visualizing what folder or files are highlighted in Windows Explorer, 11) Switching between Windows Explorer windows takes forever sometimes, 12) Internet Explorer suddenly doesn’t remember passwords or prompt to save them, 13) Desktop search function takes forever and is too complicated, 14) PDF Printer suddenly doesn’t work, 15) Network connectivity is CONSTANTLY lost…need I say more!?!?!?!
