My beta invitation came through a little while ago (WE HAVE MORE! 4/10/08) and I couldn’t wait to fire up the fox and give her a shot. I gave my first Aviary online application a spin and all I can say is WOW!
The application AtA got to beta test today (we have 5 beta invites for you guys!) is called Phoenix. Phoenix is a web based full blown Photoshop application that blows EVERYTHING out of the water that I have tried before. I opened her up and got:
That’s right a full on seem less looking image editor. With all the goodies you have come to need from PS like layers, filters and that magic wand! Upload files or create on the fly.

We just messed around a bit with an image directly off of AskTheAdmin. Check it out:
Oh noes! The google chick now has a mustache! This will be a invaluable tool especially when I am on someone else’s machine and need to mod some graphics on the fly. And wait there’s more (there always is!)
This is only ONE application in a series of other applications also named after…
Aviary is a suite of rich internet applications geared for artists of all genres. From image editing to typography to music to 3D to video, we have a tool for everything. At Worth1000, we are creating a complex ecosystem for artists and providing the world with free, capable collaborative tools and an approach to collaboration and rights management that will turn the marketplace for online art on its head.
Catch a glimpse at the whole suite here:
If we help them find bugs or create something really cool we can get access to the other apps. Lets see what we can do…
And Like I Said AtA has beta invites for you but only a handful so comment and comment quickly. Tell us what you want to use Aviary for!

I need your email address Sriki – email it to me using the address above on the right. Thats #1! (3.5 Minutes since post) Not a record but pretty damn fast! Impressive!
This looks really fantastic! Would come in really handy!
Same thing Steveo send me your email address and it will be on its way.
Hey – I've been reading about this for a while now and would love to give it a shot. I'm too cheap to buy photoshop but occasionally I need to do some image processing for clients and such. I use paint.net currently but this looks great.
SB
that looks sweet.
Hmmm Maybe I wasn't clear but I DO NEED YOUR EMAIL and the comment for is not sending them through to me. So email me… invites@asktheadmin.com and I will send it over.
One has been sent out to Steve and there are 4 more! Come get your beta on kiddies!
Ooooh! Gimme Gimme! We need something like this for updating AndroidGuys during the work week! They won't let me install Photoshop here. Something about not being a legit copy or something. That, and I am supposed to be doing "real" work.
I'm addicted to Photoshop, but would love to find an affordable alternative. Plus, I'm an aspiring computer geek, and love to try out new programs. Please share with me! I will be eternally grateful.
I sent the email
Email sent and a hefty bribe is on it's way. Hope the Admin likes crabs :)
All 5 went out already but we will have more tomorrow! We gave the first five to people that got us their addresses sorry the submission form isn't sending me them…yet

me me me
I've actually found it a bit hit and miss as far as being able to open various local file types. It also seems to like a fairly low latency connection, particularly when trying to move things around. That being said, it is an awesome start and no one can complain about the price.
Gavin What types of files did you have problems with?
It seemed to open everything I threw @ it. I have A Gavin Smith that works in my office – where are you from?
Thanks for stopping by!
PNGs have been a bit unusual at times, sometimes ignoring transparency, slthough as I said, it may have to do with latency and slower uploads. I'm in Australia, so not that Gavin Smith.
I'd love to try this, reply to naomiandtom@msn.com.
Sent out Jennifer – Come back and let us know! You got our first invite off of our second batch!
Naomi – yours is on the way as well! Let us know how you like it. And now you have access to 2 of the apps! Phoneix and the pattern maker! Emjoy and let us know how you like it in the comments!
Got the invite! Will play with the new program at home this evening. Thank you much! Tell me, who would you like me to invite next?
