Office 2007 Tutorials: Stop Asking Me How To Save Your Damn Files In Word 2007! RTFM!!??!!
I am tired of people asking me how to do mundane tasks in office 2007 because they don’t understand the new UI.
If you are here to figure out how to use the new file types in older versions going back to 97, keep reading and hit the link below.
I guess Microsoft is tired of answering questions on their hot lines as well because they put out these tutorials on the new-ish office suite.
I want to say RTFM but that’s just not politically correct. You can’t say that to the executives that have to have the newest software even if it will cripple them while they learn it. Microsoft alleges that this new “Ribbon” interface is the wave of the future… It looks more like the wave of Apple.
For shame…For Shame! But get to learning…
Here is the patch to allow older versions of office to open the fancy smancy docx xlsx and any of the new other odd balls… Hit this link here.

I first saw Word 2007 over a year ago.
I swear to god I will never install it.
Word is in my opinion something that MS got right. Word 97 was PERFECT. Not too much, not too little…just right. 2000 was good, 2003 meh…{shrug}
2007, with the Ribbon…WASTE. All they have done is pissed off a user base and caused more help desk issues and training classes to be paid for….hmmmm…wonder why they did that again….
Corel’s Wordperfect on the other hand does it right. They don’t make mediocre software. The lastest Wordperfect adds new functionality all the time, yet retains the ability to reskin the application to act like ANY previous release of WP back to 5!!! Anyone remember the blue screened word where you essentially had to code your files??? Good times.
MS needs to allow for a reskin of Word to a more functional, user friendly interface then the ribbon.
Also…the ribbon takes up screen real estate….
Microsoft just simply does not get it. When they are putting lipstick on the pig, it does not justify a new release. Keep it simple, stupid.

I absolutely abhor the horrible interface in Office 2007. I will never, ever use it, no matter what.
If Jesus came down from the heavens and commanded me to use it, I’d pee on him.
I use AbiWord now, and it is so much better.
What was Microsoft thinking with that horrible interface?
