I can confirm that you are able to just use the vista search box as a run command box. it even recognizes command switches. you can use it to open a cmd window and run ipconfig /all. just by typing in “cmd ipconfig /all” (without the qoutes)

I am planning to upgrade my primary PC from XP to Vista next week. And since I am still a Vista virgin every little fix helps.

Thanks for the tip, that’s very useful !
But i think that you can use the search input for launching exe files too.
