More info:

Using the machine above, ff3b is about 20% faster on load times for pages. I also opened the same set of 4 tabs, in the same order, on each browser, and 2.0.0.9 used 70 megs of memory, and 3b1 used 46 megs. Not bad!

@Karl - I hear ya, and I'll wait patiently. I know this sucker can flash fry a buffalo in 40 seconds, but I want it now!

My lappy is old (mobile amd, 1500+, 1.3GHz, 512mb ram) and struggles with a many tabs open, so i thought this would be a great test. Wow what a difference! 3.0 is great. Much faster, much less memory intensive. My issue at the moment is that almost none of my plugins work w/ 3.0, so sadly this can't become my fulltime browser yet...

opera.exe with ~200 tabs:

Memory: 435000 K
VM: 463000 K
CPU usage 0-5% from a 1.73Ghz Intel Celeron M.

That above is Opera 9.5 beta which has some bugs to be fixed. We should compare again when both products are final.

BTW that poll with "the browser you use" isn't biased at all...
