I stand corrected... It does have a quad band and is capable of HSDPA but it is crippled by our good friends @ ATT see here:

Hmm… not so sure how I feel about all these delays in relation to HTC’s devices, but first, the positive side of things is that HTC Hermes will be “'HSDPA ready', meaning that the hardware is already prepared for HSDPA” … now for the downside… “but the ability to use it will be accomplished only sometime later through a software update."

I guess that’s a nice way of putting things, but basically our hope of immediate gratification has been kicked to the curb… I wonder which carrier will come out with the update first…oooh…and with what other possible features… oooh…

They are very different and this phone hasn't been approved by the FCC in the states yet. i think that is the big hold up with the hsdpa. I have a 8525 here as well and it does not have the option to turn on the Big "H" from connections sub menu.

Maybe - Just Maybe it could be done with the HTC rom, but I wouldn't hold my breath. What is the HTC model of that guy? Does it have quad band in the specs?

Don't be jealous... ;)

I wonder if the 8525 has HSDPA. I ask because i have a feeling your phone is analogous to my 8525. HTC likes to do that. They tend to make the same phone and package it for different providers...
