Update according to the consumerist here the users were scamming Sprint and some were even getting free service for years against credits! Original story follows:
Sprint needs a new PR team, seriously. Sprint for the longest time has followed T-Mobiles lead about allowing users to enjoy their unlimited features, but now it seems Sprint is looking to follow Verizon’s lead.
Sprint lately has been sending letters to customers disconnecting them for using too much roaming, data, texting and now… CALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE!
I think the company has hit a new low because as a Sprint customer I know how many billing mistakes they make a month and call them at least two times in a billing period to correct THEIR errors. I can understand dropping problematic customers who call daily to ask why their cellphone screen turns off after five minutes, but to drop a customer looking to correct a error that they are not responsible for is ridiculous.
This has to be one of the worst mistakes Sprint/Nextel has made thus far. And now that the media got a hold of it who would want a carrier that says they dont want to support you.
You nag us we punish you by terminating your line! Talk about the mouth biting off the nose to spite the face!

This is interesting. I will have to keep this in mind as we are a Nextel shop here.
I suspect, that this is a situation where they are doing it to problematic personal account clients as opposed to businesses and enterprises.
If they did that to us on one phone number, we’d bolt that day to Verizon or ATT.

I’ve never seena nything like this, this is outlandish!
18 months ago I terminated my contract that I had with Sprint a contract that I had held for over 8 year. They have TERRIBLE service this does not suprise me in any way or shape. Anyone who gets dumped by Sprint should consider themselves blessed. I changed to At&T and am VERY happy.
yeah anon i was with sprint for 7 years and then switched to nextel and then they became sprint again.
I am happy with my att/Cingular as well.
What phone are you using? I love the tmobile unlocked dash on cingular and i just added te wing to my lineup as well.
