Overheating CPUs, which were fixed by the cold of the winter outside my apt; crashing hard drives which were fixed or accessed by various means; faulty power supplies, which had [...]

Adam Pash covered this tiny app on LifeHacker a while back. This Resizeable goodness is ever so cleverly called resizeenable and it lets you resize system windows that you normally could not. You guys always seem to find what I am looking for before I’m looking for it! Thanks LifeHacker… Some of you may wonder [...]

Big J is right, try reseating everything. Still no beeps? You might have a dead board. You can get a PC Diagnostic card, and see what codes you get… This is kind of a difficult one without seeing it.

Speaking of dead board. I once had a home consulting gig, and the guy said he was typing away on his PC when BAM everything powered off abruptly. When he tried to turn the thing back on it wouldn’t. It turned out his motherboard got fried.
I replaced the board, and got everything running again, then shut it down. The next time I tried powering on again it wouldn’t. The new board was fried too. It turns out his power supply was failing. I replaced the board and the power supply, everything was right as rain.
Something to think about…
