For the past two months something has been going on with our firewall at the office.

MJ writes to us that her machine runs updates around lunch time and she keeps getting the prompt do you want to restart now?
Not only is it annoying – sometimes she clicks yes by accident and her whole world comes crashing down. (See the fix for this at the bottom of the post – not [...]

A reader from Idaho was seriously freaked out after a late night at the computer and sent us a picture of their task manager in a strange state.
They asked for their identity to be with held so here is a screen-shot of a random person’s task manager in a similar mode.
Have you seen this before? [...]

I wasn’t sure who I should contact about this, so i am sending this to you. As of late, word attachments coming from my friend on a Windows XP Machine appear as “winmail.dat” files.
When I try to open these, the text runs about 150pp long, (it’s a 4page doc) and the [...]

That’s right kiddies!
Ask The Admin brought it to you first. Don’t go knocking on Amazon’s door today. Nobody will answer.
Could it be that the Shopping GIANT of the net doesn’t even have server redundancy worked out right for itself?
Anybody out there know anything about this? Doesn’t Amazon offer hosting services as well?

So you’ve just finished rolling out 500 new desktops using disk imaging, and you’re keeping them updated using WSUS. How are you going to monitor the overall status and health of your network?
There is a wealth of excellent network monitoring software available, both commercial and open source. One problem with many of them is that [...]

Also, I do not think that you can join a SBS into an NT domain, it must be active directory if memory serves.

I don’t mean to offend when I say this but this is exactly why I’d never use SBS anywhere…plus I don’t like Exchange.
It is too restrictive and all the components are intertwined. It affords you no flexibility to be able to make your own decisions on how things are to run, as well as it creates very rigid requirements on how you can achieve new business goals in the event of an acquisition or merger.

I didnt see your Post Sloth b4 I posted. Stick by your guns dont back down!
Yes M$ sold this bundle for around $300 alot less than a normal 2003 server lic. so they tried to restrict certain features.
As you can see they saw that wasnt working for them or something because they switched it up.
